DON PEAT, SUN MEDIA

Calling all Toronto Catholic board trustee wannabes.   The TCDSB is inviting all willing and eligible candidates to submit applications to replace ousted trustee Christine Nunziata.

Trustees voted to remove Nunziata from her Ward 6 seat after missing four board meetings and following repeated reports by the Sun of her years of expensing meals, booze and vacations.

Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18, a Toronto resident, Roman Catholic and an English-language separate school supporter.  Aside from the usual qualifications, trustees voted that Nunziata's replacement must also be a resident in the Ward 6 area.

Interested candidates can submit their applications for the job by April 25 and will be asked to appear before the board May 8.

The successful applicant will represent the 33,620 Catholic school supports in Ward 6.

The new board member will inherit an $18,500 honorarium, an $18,000 expense account and an $18,000 constituency assistant fund that all trustees are entitled to but no taxpayer-funded credit card. The board cancelled those after staff began questioning expenses and missing receipts.
