What Are Consultations on the TDSB?
Ontario’s Minister of Education, Liz Sandals, has appointed Barbara Hall to lead an advisory panel to find what Sandals has referred to in the media as a “more effective governance structure” for the TDSB, which may include dividing the Board into separate entities. The panel began its public consultations in March and will conclude in late-May.
As part of the meeting process, the panel has asked the public to consider a series of questions regarding the Board’s structure.
The Campaign for Public Education (CPE), a grassroots education advocacy organization concerned with improving publicly-funded education in Toronto, has developed a resource to help participants consider and address these questions. The responses engage and recognize the need for local trustees and proper funding from the Ontario government.
