Funding essential to Cover the Full Cost of Special Education Programs and Services

On June 22, 2011 The TDSB Board decided: Whereas, the Board is facing a funding shortfall of $15.4 million for Special Education programs and services; and Whereas, funding for Special Education has declined while the number of students with Individual Education Plans and Identification and Placement Review Committees has increased;

Therefore, be it resolved that the Chair of the Board write an open letter to the Minister of Education, preferably in concert with the Chairs of other school boards to request an increase in funding to cover the full cost of delivering Special Education programs and services, And that the letter be distributed as widely as possible using the media and other means.
