The Regent Park staff recommendation to close Regent Park/Duke of York PS was passed without discussion by the TDSB board of trustees Wednesday, Nov 16th.

Despite deputations from the Regent Park community and much effort to keep this school open the property has been placed on the surplus list and sent to the Toronto Lands Corporation* for disposal.

*The Toronto Lands Corporation was “created in September 2007 and incorporated in April 2008 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Toronto District School Board. The TLC’s mission is to maximize the Toronto District School Board’s real estate revenues in order to reinvest in TDSB schools and students. The TLC does this by working to maximize the income we gather on properties that the TDSB directs to us, both for lease management and for sale.”
